Martin Guigui has produced over 30 music albums, directed 6 Feature Films, written 21 screenplays and Executive Produced 7 feature films. Guigui, Born in Buenos Aires Argentina, son of Famed Symphony Orchestra Conductor Efrain Guigui, grew up in New York, Puerto Rico and Vermont. An accomplished pianist and Hammond B-3 organ player, Guigui has performed and recorded beside John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Joan Osborne, Bo Didley, Phish, Laverne Baker, Sandra Wright, Bill Sims and Don McClean. He has opened with his own group for Eddie Money, Talking Heads, Mathew Sweet, Steve Forbert and NRBQ and has produced among others Smokey Robinson, The Slip, Jim Infintino, Jamie Lee Thurston, Gordon Stone, Kip Meaker and Chad Hollister. Guigui, a Grammy voting member has built a reputation as a skilled composer whose work has appeared in Independent Films, Network Television, National Radio and children’s programming. Guigui has received numerous Billboard Awards for his songwriting, ASCAP Performance Awards, is the proud recipient of a Caesar Award and won a Best Director award at the USA Film Festival for his work on "Swing". Guigui produced for PBS highlights including music driven documentaries with Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton and Sun Ra. Guigui also enjoyed acting stints, starring in the indie cult classic “Time Chasers.” Guigui wrote “My X-Girlfriend’s Wedding” and went on to direct and star in the quirky comedy with Dom DeLuise and Debbie Gibson. Tooted by Rolling Stone as the “Spinal Tap of wedding receptions” the culty favorite won critical acclaim garnering “Best Comedy” and “Audience Favorite” awards throughout the festival circuit worldwide thus establishing his directorial career. He has twice been honored by the City Of Los Angeles for his contributions as an artist to music education. Martin is co-founder and President of Sunset Pictures which also houses Old School Records, a music label. Martin Co-founded The First Time Film Festival and every year finds time to organize events to raise thousands of dollars for charities such as Prevention Of Child Abuse, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Ear Candy, Rock For Diabetes and Cancer research. Guigui is a member of the DGA, WGA, SAG, NARAS, ASCAP. |
